Tipping is out of control in this country!

Unless the driver somehow goes out of his way to assist me somehow (makes a stop at the gas station etc.) I don't tip.

Tip the maid, for what? Doing her job? I clean up after my self, I even make the bed when I leave. Don't think so!

Jesus! Even the "paper Boy" (if there was such a thing I might consider it) wants a tip for x-mas.

Maybe If I had the money to spread around I might be a little more generous, but I still don't understand why I should tip someone for what they get paid to do!

As far as I know servers at restaurants are still the only people who get paid below minimum wages, so I tip them. BUT it still enjoys me that I have to subsidize an industry’s unwillingness to pay minimum wages.

I pay a price for a service or product, if the individual selling me that service/product goes beyond what I expect I will return or tip depending on the situation.

I don’t tip for the sake of tipping!

Don't make the bed when you leave. She has to change the sheets anyway, and might think it wasn't used. I don't want to sleep on your dirty sheets.

I agree. Most of the time I get my own bags. If they do, I will tip a buck. But the majority of the time my wallet is empty because I had to use my perdiem $ to by food for my family or to pay my $240 gas bill this month. But lately I've been saving all my "tip money" so I can aford to eat when I get furloughed next month. Oh , and my wife is pregnant with twins and doesn't work.

I love being an airline pilot.....stress free:eek:

$1 if the service is good, if not, then nothing

I think you should tip maids and van drivers. In the end you do get better service because of the incentive.

Tipping the maids is the biggest secret. Tip them $3, and you've just guaranteed yourself that they won't be stealing your stuff! Because so few people tip them.

In Subic, the same $3 will get you a happy ending. To heck with having the room cleaned or worrying about them stealing my stuff. Happy endings for all!

What about when the van driver is a woman? I refuse to make a woman lift my bags into & out of the van. Especially in the pre-LIDO days when my 45# flight bag was part of the ensemble. So, I get my bags but I still tip the women if they make the attempt to get them.

My normal tip is $3 if the driver (male) gets mine and the F/O bags in and out. Less to zero if they have 'tude.

I tip divers $2 each way. Never really seems to make a difference though.
