Default Tsa Can't Be Trusted !!!!!

Hello, today (Friday July 25th) I flew on Frontier flight 671 from Orlando (MCO) to Denver (DEN).

When I received my luggage in Denver, I noticed my luggage had been tampered with.

After I went through my luggage I noticed my $500 Magellan GPS unit with the windshield mount was missing which leads me to believe that someone from TSA stole it out of my luggage.

What kind of BS is this if TSA is stealing our *******?

How do you know it wasn't an airline employee? Why would you check a $500 GPS?

This is surprising because...?

Sorry 'bout the GPS, though.

While TSA may routinely open checked luggage for inspection, this is done in a secure area under observation...even if they wanted to, tsa probably couldn't have stolen it.

99.9% chance it was the ramp. Basically the way they look at it, if you place consumer electronics in your checked baggage you INTENDED to give it to them. If you asked first, anyone on these forums could have told you that

Well, TSA was the one that x-rayed the luggage. I can't imagine a ramp worker randomly going through baggage, but who knows? I have filed a complaint with the TSA, I guess Frontier is the next one.

I learned from a young age that any thing of value had better be tied down to my body the entire time... There are some shady people out there.

Did you actually read what rickair said? He's right... way way more likely the ramp.

"can't imagine a ramp worker randomly going through baggage"

I haven't dealt with rampies before, I'm not a commercial pilot yet. I've never had problems in the past checking in my luggage.

That's pretty lame if rampies are going through luggage. Frontier Airlines is definitely going to hear about this one. Of course, I can't get ahold of anyone until Monday.

Pre TSA et.al., there was an investigative report on rampers at one particular airport (i forget which one). The bag rats had keys to all luggage company's locks, had a profile of which bags to open (returning from Europe, going to Vegas). and no remorse about doing something illegal.

Truth is, 90% of them are honest, but the other 10%.... look out.

All important things go in my carry-on, no exceptions. If I can afford to lose something, it's checked.
