Default Worst Flight

In light of all the horrible things that passengers do, I would like to know a few stories about passengers that actually understood. What is the worst flight you have had where the cargo was actually gracious you even got there.

One flight out of DFW was delayed about 7 hours because of an aborted take-off. After MX clears the A/C they needed a new crew. Why they didn't coordinate this at the same time I don't know. So, after about an hour of looking they were able to find me and a Captain that were able to fly this 2.5 hour flight. After a total of about 10 hours on this plane the entire planeload of people made a point of coming up to us and thanking us for changing our schedule and getting them there safely. Granted, they had an aborted take-off so they were probably just happy to get on the ground safely because of that. The FA said they were all very polite and quite the whole flight there. The return flight full of people were not so understanding.

Talking

Never fails. 30 minutes late the pax are annoyed. 2 hours late they are angry and hostile.

But eight hours late they are grateful and cheer.

was the last day of reserve and i was working a 3 day trip. the last day was a sunday...i was supposed to fly from kewr-rdu then rdu-lga and then deadhead from lga-bos...from there on my own i was gonna jumpseat to philly to spend some time with the lady.

we were supposed to leave rdu for lga at 1230 and i was supposed to get into boston from my deadhead at like 330.

well the worst storms of the summer fired up and shut down ny. every flight out of rdu seemed to cancell except mine. what was supposed to be a 1230 departure turned into a 730 pm departure...pickin our way thru the weather into lga. got into lga and everything there was cancelled including my deadhead to boston. taxiing in i went on a limb and called usairways ramp to see if they had any flights going to philly from lga. the lady said theres only one left everythign else got canned. she said it left in 45 minutes and she even listed me over the frequency. i got off the plane sprinted over to the usair terminal from the american terminal. got thru security and to the gate and they had just pushed off the gate. apparently they got an earlier wheels up time and went with it. so now i had the option of getting a hotel in ny into my day off and try to get home or well do something else.

luckily there was a usairways to boston for some reason leaving at like 11 pm and i took that one. eventually got to the lady a few days later.

I was scheduled to dead head back home on an overbooked flight. A sailor who had been on leave was going to get bumped and eventually miss ship's movement (for those of you who don't know, that is like a missed trip times 1000). I got the CA to hold the flight a few minutes while I coordinated with crew sked to put me on a later flight. The gate agent said he couldn't put the sailor on because there were other pax ahead of him. I talked to the pax and convinced them to let the sailor go to the front of the line. I called his folks that evening, they said he made it and thanked me.
