Default My Idea of the perfect airplane

This is my idea of a perfect airplane Exploreraero Ecoflyer, OSH 08. I think it's an LSA made in Canada. Just watch the video you'll understand. Here's a link to the manufacture's website Exploreraero Ecoflyer. I especially like the amphibian model. If I had 200K laying around, I would definitely buy one

Looks cute, but it has fixed seats. I probably wouldnt beable to fly it. I have to use a pillow in a 172 with the seats all the way forward.

Not trying to pour water on the design but they did not give any data on useful load and it would just have to be pretty small. No matter what it is, there will be a temptation to overload the airplane with all that space inside to fill. This means of course that it is likely to be crashed. Experience shows people are stupid enough to do this, especially in summer when such a design would appeal the most, and the large interior space adds to the problem.

The guy in the video mentioned it weighs 750 and has a useful load of 600 with 30 gal fuel... which has me scratching my head a little....
you are right about the internal space... no offense to those who fly new LSA's.... but at least around our airport they (that market) are much more prone to crashing from failing to calculate CG and/or simply over-loading, etc... that huge space inside is like an invitation to...

I'd have to say as far as doing its particular job...I like the Avanti Piaggio...Fuel efficient props that go faster than some of the jets out there!

I also think the Dash 8-400 is probably the best regional airliner out there. 70 seats at about 300 kts...thats pretty sick witted.

The Pilatus is speed with fuel/cost efficiency. One engine means less work/cost during the inspections.

I'll stick with the 777, but I am looking forward to flying the 787 soon.

LSA MTOW (1350 lbs.) minus Ecoflyer empty wt (750 lbs.) = 600 lb. useful load.

So, the 600 lbs. is for cargo+people+pets+fuel. Minus 30 gal. fuel (180 lbs.) that leaves only 420 lbs. for everything. Two people will knock 400 lbs. off that easy. Now you are down to 20 lbs. It will be no time before someone goofs up, throws a dog or a loaded ice chest in the back... the picture is not pretty.

How's that any different than a 172 which in all practical purposes is a two person airplane? A quick W&B of an R model shows 450lbs after full tanks. On top of that there are two very tempting seats in back to place an extra couple hundred pounds in.
