Yesterday I pulled my Swift out of the hangar, cranked, climbed up and went direct to a small city I have never visited before.
I land at a small airport, buy a little fuel and the FBO gives me an airport car to visit the local burg. I meander around the town for a few hours talking to people such as the local weekly newspaper editor and hear some great stories.
I love the entire concept of flight, the stick and rudder, the mental, the philosophy, the freedom. Day, night, VFR, Cat III, the seasons... all of it. 40+ yrs in the cockpit and I still enjoy it.

Taking off in the winter from Loring AFB in the winter. The weather was always cold and cloudy for months at a time. Passing about 4000 ft there would be an absolutely clear brilliant blue sky. The sun did exist. Sometimes you weren't really sure.
