I have been reading this board since its inception. I have never commented simply because I am not an airline pilot and I am married. I have lived vicariously throught the thread though...and agree it needs to continue. I have fallen into deep lust with Falcon Girl, Cass, Vagabond, SkyGirl and MzCat - almost to the point of calling out their names at the height of ....

Anyway - keep going - us lurkers need you!

By way of background - I was an aspiring airline pilot untill I went deaf at age 23. Had to change careers and goals at that point. I have since recieved Cochlear Implants and can hear again. I also believe that with some work i will be able to qualify for an unrestricted medical. My goal is not Airline flying - My goal is to go to S.E.A.T training and fly Air Tractor 802's. High horsepower taildraggers are what I like - hope that doesn't make me an outcast!

For those that don't know, S.E.A.T. stands for Single Engine Air Tanker, i.e., the guys that drop retardent on wildfires. Better have some good life insurance first, as you are uninsurable once you start.

When I worked for the USFS, we lost an average of 2 pilots per year in the fire fighting community. The "Mavericks" of this world don't fly F-14's (sadly, nobody does anymore), they are flying airtankers over fires.
