Default UFO Hunters on History

I'm seeing adds for UFO Hunters on History for this weeks episode. They'll be talking about UFOs near ORD. I know a lot of pilots dont like to discuss the "encounters" they've had. Just wondering if any one follows this show. Seems like it might be interesting to watch.

I don't follow the show, but the History channel should stick to history and not ghosts, UFOs or other haints and hobgoblins.

I have been fortunate enough to see a variety of objects launched into space, from both the ground and the air and a variety of objects enter the atmosphere. I have also seen very close closure at Mach 2 speeds and missles coming off an aircraft at Mach 2 plus. Bullets and artillery shells can also be seen in flight with the naked eye under the right conditions. All these events have one thing in common, they are hard to see unless you are looking for them and waiting, and they would be very difficult to photograph.

Maybe that explains why evidence is impossible to find that proves the existence of UFOs.

My own theory is that life exists in the universe on levels higher and lower than our own, but there is such a vast expanse out there that the twain shall never meet. Just as I would not drive from Miami to New York for a quart of milk, they have no real need to traverse a thousand or a million light years-even if they could, because the various elements needed to constuct a civilization are well distributed throughout the cosmos.

Most of what we get from the popular literature is a quasi-religious/philisophical angst built up on decades of funny fiction from Jules Verne and Buck Rogers to the more modern writers. Much of it has to do with man's grasp for meaning or explanation. Most of it is just fuzzy conspiracy and psychological pitfalls from slightly crazed minds. By the way, aliens aren't in the machines, they are the machines.

What Jungle said. I have seen a LOT of airborne hardware and munitions in the military and it often looks pretty strange.

Like Jungle said, it's a BIG universe out there...the technical challenges of interstellar space travel are almost beyond human comprehension. If somebody had the ability to actually GET here and the desire to do so, they would be so smart and so advanced that they would either:

A. Land on the white house lawn and announce they are taking over.

B. Remain covert. If they choose to remain hidden, their technology will allow them to do so without difficulty, mistakes, or accidents. A starship is not going to suddenly develop engine trouble and crash in Roswell...after travelling 40 light years at god-only-knows what relativistic velocity

Get real folks...

Well there as the Star Trek episode where the Enterprise was caught in the atmosphere of Earth - remember? I mean even the mighty Enterprise broke down once in awhile. What else would Scottie have to yell about?

Default The Last Starfighter...

USMC:

Please pay tribute to one USAF Capt John Christopher, F-104 pilot, who tried to close for a VID......would an AIM-9B guide on a Warp or Impulse engine, stern-aspect?

In line with Jungle, I have been very disappointed by the History Channel's recent excursions into "supernatural phenomenom" shows. "Investigating" a "haunted house" by using Blair-Witch-like black and white video (shot jerkily and short-duration focus), and using an old Radio Shack Ohmmeter labelled "Ghost-ometer," does not make for educational history. It makes for cheap fodder, and lends credence to the ignorant, foolish, or desperate, that three chumps on late-night cable can somehow prove the existence of spirits and magic powers.

I've also seen "proof" that the "supersonic" F-117 has flying saucer technology...even the aviation shows are tainted.

Please, History Channel, give me more recreations of famous air battles (which are nicely-done computer animations). Show recreations of ancient Roman battles, boats, or machines, based on scientific excavations.

Just let it be based on fact.

He tried to close for VID but overshot and couldn't get turned around within one earth rotation

I LOVE those types of shows! The recent one on the fire ships was especially interesting.

Every now and again MonsterQuest is interesting... just wish they'd actually find something.

... anyone want to join me for an expedition into the Congo?

I thought this was pretty interesting:

France Releases UFO Files-UFO Casebook Files

France let their UFO archives loose. I heard there was some creepy stuff on there. Personally, I've been too lazy to look into it myself, especially after the initial peak of interest when it was impossible to get on the site...

But anyway, I think it's possible that we're not the only "intelligent" life in this universe...I think it could be demonic, or it could be real, but I am not opposed to the idea.

Ephesians 6:12: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

There are UFO and spiritual forums out there if you are interested in seeing inexplicable things.
