I rarely, if ever, jumpseat offline anymore. I usually just buy a ticket or use our system. But, when I did jumpseat I always had something for the crew to express my gratitude. Usually in the form of brand new can of Altoids or something of the like. I know it isn't much, but I was appreciative of the ride and wanted to let them know with more than just a simple "thanks".

When I was doing 135 it happened quite frequently, and I graciously and politely accepted every time. The biggest tip I ever got was $400 (each, 2 crew king air). When I was flying single pilot (chieftain), I'd often get around $100/trip. It was nice! We were usually tipped at least $50 (each).

Now I'm part 91, and we don't get tipped. But we're salaried and pretty well taken care of. Actually it wouldn't even feel appropriate in the situation I'm in now.

Being one of the former van drivers - thank you for that gesture. I wish you had been on my van!

Cripes, I wish you had been the driver, especially on some of LGA to Ramada Milford trips. I've been up on two wheels sometimes!

That's a great gesture. Then again, we Get Smart fans are usually very considerate.

I usually wouldn't accept it but he must have been in a hurry because it was a full sprint. I was expecting to see a dollar or two.

I used it to buy starbucks for the crew.
I've helped get the carry ons off the plane several times when the rampers were moving slowly. Never gotten a tip though, and I've never expected one.

I have had several FAs who've told me they've gotten several tips though. Must be nice

I was soooooooooo good I even told the passengers when the bumps in the road were coming up in case they were taking a drink of their coffee at just the wrong time!! Hey....I worked hard for that $3.50 tip per crew of three. It is a sign of the times that tips from crews don't seem to have gone UP in the last 20 years based on some previous threads on APC. A buck is a buck is a buck.
