FAA Inpector Raid on Kids Make A Wish Flights
A friend in Birmingham said he heard the FAA pulled a raid/inspection ?? of several planes and helicopters last week at a kids make a wish flight event. It happened at BHM. The planes were loaded with kids and adults. They made the kids stay on the planes while they questioned the pilots.
Anybody hear anything?

Here is the link to the story. I got the link from a pilot that witnessed the FAA's actions. No engine on ANY aircraft was running while loading children.

FAA Ramp Check Nightmare for Kids.

"One pilot also alleges that the ramp checks did not "just happen" but were instead inspired by bad blood between one of the organizers and the local FSDO, who has been linked to several "complaints/problems/scandals," including one alleged skirmish that will have them in front of an NTSB Law Judge later this week."
Once again the FAA leaves me..... speechless!

Interesting.........I wonder if the FAA needs permission to enter an aircraft ramp - even a ANG ramp? Anyone know the **actual** answer?
So...people that have dealt with the FAA ramp checks - how does this story sound to you? Are they usually intrusive? Has anyone ever worked with this program? It sounds like a well run event. I like the point about the FAA attending the pilot's briefing. Sounds like a similar idea to what I've seen at the airshows.

I was told today the ANG base commander was quoted as saying something to the effect "what are they doing here?" "They should have gone thru me to get base clearance."
Making kids sit in hot aircraft is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! Epically kids with medical issues!!
Here is a link to the groups website.

[quote=Diver Driver;608770]These guys certainly had a right to ramp at the event, although I think it should have been done before it began and outside of public view. The FAA's story seems a bit odd.
Attend the pilots safety meeting!!!!!
