HAHAH!

On a more serious note, was that the first "crash" at SBH?

If the fuel is stored in the wing, and that wing snaps, there could be a fire, (I seriously doubt Jet A or 100 LL explodes; it more or less burns).

That was definitely some improper decision-making in the cockpit..

Im not going to say it was all the pilots fault... There was no sound for me when i played it, so I didnt hear any of the conversation...

Was there something wrong with the plane, that may have put him in a land or land situation...

To quote a movie, "Yea we are going to land alright!, But the word is Crash!"

Anyone know the whole story behind that, or is it just a viral video one of you guys drummed up on the internet.

The second time I played it I heard the sound track - it was just the guy filming commenting. Of course there could have been extenuating circumstances It could also have been exactly what it **looks** like - a poor approach to a landing, what looks like a badly timed flare, followed by an extensive float, a headwork error not to go around, and a final ending in the sand.
In any case - we should all put ourselves in a similar situation and decide how s/he would have handled the situation differently and maybe such a thing won't happen to us!

Very true... I still dont have sound....

It is a very poor decision. To land that is. If in fact it was just an out right bad decision. I would still like to see the rest of the back story...

Photon 05-31-2009 03:01 PM

could've been so easily avoided...

EvilGN 05-31-2009 04:37 PM

slowing the vid down you see the wind socked pegged, thats probably the reason for why he choose to land that direction, but that hill leads me to believe I would never WANT to land that direction, i assume that hill doesn't meet any type of 50ft obstacle clearance limits

supersix-4 05-31-2009 05:00 PM

He's also landing downhill.

elcid88 05-31-2009 05:00 PM

Too bad he couldn't make the "high-speed" at the end of the runway!

HAHA very funny. I never heard staying with the aircraft after a crash was what you where supposed to do. But if I knew the plane still had fuel I would be half way down the field by then. But thats just me.
