I know they recently retired the F-117, but one has to ask why paint it in camo? I thought those things flew exclusively at night in theater since they would be easy pickings for another fighter with guns if caught out in broad daylight.

If i remember, that's a very early pic from "Have Blue"

i.e. not a production airplane.

Probably a YF-117 with one of the paint jobs they tried. The "Have Blue" was smaller and the vertical stabilizers were canted inward instead of outward.

You are correct, night ops only. And I wouldn't have wanted to fly a mission with a full moon either.
