Default Birthday cake on flight?

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my question, sorry if I should be somewhere else!

I was wondering if it's possible to coordinate with an airline (or pilot or flight attendant) to surprise a passenger in flight? For example, if it was somebody's birthday and we wanted to have the flight attendant surprise them with a birthday present or a birthday cake...

Has anyone ever heard of anything like that on a major commercial airline? Could I get in touch with the pilot or flight attendants or what would be the easiest way to broach this?

I am trying to think of something to do for somebody who is really special to me and who has been through illness and some personal issues lately. I would be happy to compensate anybody involved or help them out in some other way.

Possible? Not possible? Any ideas? Thanks guys.

The first problem is trying to keep the TSA from confiscating the cake, checking it for weapons and such. They would probably have to sample it to make sure. They have a special place to do that; The Break Room.

Nice idea, but there are going to be a significant number of hurdles I'm afraid; getting it past security, finding the crew, etc, not to mention that there won't be enough for everybody.

What? They can't just x-ray the cake?

Why don't you call up the airline and see? If it's somebody like JB, SW, or F9 they'd probably do what they could to help you out...

I'm pretty sure you could bring a cupcake onboard; you could try taping the cupcake to the bottom of a plastic see-through cointainer. That way tsa can't give you crap about being sneaky, and the cupcake would go unharmed. Then again, they are suspicious of clear water bottles :/

Bottom Line...

If you (or a friend or family member) are going on the flight with the person in question, you can bring the cake. The FA's will probably be glad to do the happy-birthday routine (not sure about lighted candles though).

If you are not going on the flight, it would be a blatant security violation to recruit someone you don't know to carry an object on an airplane. If you try, you will be explaining yourself to the FBI. In fact, they are probably doing a reverse DNS on your IP address as we speak
