I always notice that the rabid death-penalty opponents are pretty darn quite when a guy like this or a McViegh is up for termination.
But they really pile it on when dealing with condemned inmates with "poster-child" attributes. If they weren't such hypocrites they would stand as strongly for all condemned inmates...after all it's the principle of the thing, right? No shades of gray about right and wrong or the seriousness of the crime. Shouldn't really matter if you scare off a few contributor$.

On a serious note though, yes, I am against the death penalty, it is supposed to be a deterrent but isn't and is far too inconsistent. However, unlike most of my liberal brethren my views on the death penalty take on a slightly more practical approach.
A certain senator, his name escapes me, was asked if someone raped and murdered his wife would he still be against the death penalty? His response (more or less an exact quote):
"If someone raped and murdered my wife the death penalty would be a moot point, because I would kill him myself."
In the case of John Allen Muhammad, in the name of peace, the situation probably would have been better if he had been shot on the spot, gun in hand, guilt unquestionable, otherwise stuffed down a very deep dark hole never to return. Thoughts?

Good riddance.. The thought of those three weeks always disturbs me, especially the fact that both accomplices were relatives. IMO, the death penalty is 50/50, just because killing someone for killing another just isn't the way I view justice, yet keeping a dangerous person in solitary confinement can be outlandishly expensive.
