Unhappy Miami FBOs

Flying a C182 into the Miami area in mid July to take a weeks cruise. Looking for recommendations on FBOs. Looking for parking, security and sun protection for the aircraft. Any help/recommendations would certainly be appreciated. I'm currently leaning towards Opalaka as being reasonable to get into and close to the cruise ship docks. This will be our big XC flight for the year.

If you're only looking at Opa Locka, Miami Exec is the best one there. If you're open to TMB, there are some good ones there too.

I liked Banyan at FXE (Ft. Lauderdale Exec), but I don't know much about their prices. The staff was great, facilities were really nice as well. We might be more helpful once you can narrow down an airport and/or have some possibilities in mind.

Actually we're open to most any reasonable suggestions. Opa Locka looked like the best initial possibility due to the proximity of the cruise ship dock area. I'm concerned that if we pick a field too far away, the cost of getting down to the docks and back might be pricey. Haven't flow in the Florida area since 1988 or so and that trip we landed at Melbourne anyway. My last flight in the Miami area was about 1961 or 1962. Yeah, I'm an older one!
If anyone wants cross country adventure, come north sometime, I can give all sorts of info on where to go (and where not to go - that's important).

Miami International looks to be closer but I'm concerned about a steep landing fee (I dunno, that's why I'm out searching for info).

Cant go wrong by calling em, I landed at Tamiami in miami about a year or so ago... Not sure on their prices but it was a decent little FBO. Wasnt luxury like some of the others but id say they would be cheap. All i can warn you is that alot of FBOs in florida are rip offs so be carefull best advice i can give is call around and ask prices.

Stay away from KBCT boca 60$ landing fee...at least it was a while back.

You can always try:
AirNav: Airport Information

and look at the FBOs for each airport down there.
The usually have a list of all the FBOs, their prices, and user reviews

Default I live here.

I'm based at FXE. I've been to every Airport and FBO in the region. Is your ship departing Port of Miami, or Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale)? That could make a difference. PM me if you wish or ask on this thread.

I would stay away from FXE or MIA.

Simply because of fuel prices. it's such a huge change.

as far as the FBOs, I don't have much experience in MIA but FXE (Banyan) is pretty nice

If you can't pay with the big boys, don't play with them
