Another Travelnet Question
#1
I apologize if this has already been covered, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I work for a Delta Connection carrier, and I'm trying to travel on Delta with my wife and one year old son from Atlanta to Manchester UK. When I make the reservations on Travelnet, it doesn't give me the option to pay with a credit card, it automatically sets it up for payroll deduction. It's the first time I've non-rev'd internationally, so I don't know if that's normal or not. I've given out buddy passes for international travel, and it always let me pay with a credit card ahead of time and email the confimation barcode and stuff. I didn't think it made a difference, but yesterday when I loaded up the family and went up to the airport, the ticket agent said we weren't showing up as being "e-ticketed" and that I'd have to pay him up front - the fee he wanted was twice the fee on travelnet. He also said I needed an "infant coupon" for my son. He spent about forty minutes calling people about the infant coupon before he finally called a redcoat down. The redcoat said I had to pay upfornt, then looked at the departure time and said there wasn't enough time to check our bags. As I took our passports and walked away, he said I need to pay through travelnet upfront and get the barcode next time. Fortunately, there's open seats today, so we're gonna try again. I'm trying to avoid having the same problem, but when I called 1-800-MyDelta, a couple different people said I would not be able to pay up front for international travel - payroll deduct is the only option. We're going a couple hours early today to have a better chance to get it sorted out, but I was wondering if any of you guys could shed some light? Thanks.

That is the way international fees are taken care of. They are deducted from your paycheck. I have never paid for fees up front. (Exception is GCM sometimes wants your departure fees up front) List your child as a non-rev. IE give her a seat, that way they are on the record locator.
Of note when you parents travel too, their fees are deducted from your check as well. The only things you can pay for are Fly Confirmed for Less, or FCF Even Less, Buddy Pass or Companion Pass fees and your annual pass fees.
If this does not help, it is totally our of my experience range. It is the way it has been done for the 15+ years I have been using it.

Thanks. I had a feeling the airport ticket agent was incorrect, but there wasn't much I could do about it. It surprised me when the redcoat said the same thing though. I'll go back today and try to talk to someone else.

I think the agent was incorrect too. When I travel abroad, it always deducts the taxes from my paycheck. Same thing for my parents. The only time I get asked for a credit card is when my companion travels. But if you're the primary passrider you shouldn't be asked to pay on travelnet or the ticket counter. But then again, if you work for a different regional it may be different. I'm not sure.
