Fear Of Flying
This makes for an interesting read. The article is pretty long that's why I did not just copy and paste it here. Did not want to unduly overburden the database.

Aside from a wildly rambling article with no apparent point, there are few snippets of inferred quotes that I hope this Capt. didn't really make.
For this disruption on the aircraft, he diverted to ANC and offloaded the twins. They were arrested by the FBI and stayed in Jail in ANC for several weeks. After they were released, no airline in ANC would allow them to ride AND UAL vigorously pursued prosecution. Exactly what part of the system didn't work? He removed disruptive passengers and continued on. CLR/CRM is a crew tool, is it any surprise that the trailer trash twins on their way to a "modeling competition" didn't listen to the Captain? They could care less.
Dear God, get over yourself! My understanding is that it's not only common, but it's SOP to have pre-departure brief with the cabin crew before an international flight.
AS THE FIASCO of Flight 857 made worldwide headlines, Dunn delivered his waylaid passengers to Shanghai and began leaving phone messages with United headquarters in Chicago. The tools from his emergency-situation training — known in United jargon as Command Leadership and Resource, or CLR — did not work.
Dunn's attendance at the meeting was an anomaly for an airline captain at the top of his profession. In the rarified circle of 747 captains, it is a social faux pas to attend such meetings.

Ok, guys, just sharing here. I never vouched for the author or the cast of characters in his article. I also never said the Seattle Times is any great publication. "Wildly rambling" can be interpreted as interesting. hee hee. Slow day today.
