Hooyaa.

I was a little worried there for a while, but I guess they had to go through the process due to the allegations.

Sometimes the good guys win.

I have to wonder what effect this case and many others are having when you have to consider that doing your duty may cause you to be set upon by a pack of jackals. The trend is not good.

In the philosophical sense, you have to wonder if trying to civilize warfare and run it with a bunch of lawyers is the correct thing to do.
War really has only one rule. The rest are figments of an imagined morality. Morality is gone the instant you enter warfare, to argue otherwise is less than the truth. A great many rules have been made about the precise method of acceptably killing another human, but the end result is the same no matter how many flourishes you embellish the act with by legal disclaimer.

I don't know anything about the military chain of command but I would think that if someone at the top picked up the phone and said "Are you kidding me, make this go away yesterday!!!" we NEVER would have heard about this. Am I wrong?

Thanks to ALL who serve and an extra thanks to those who do that "special ops" thing.

These men had a choice and instead of taking the easy way out decided to fight for what they beleived in the most and that was their 'HONOR'.
What's shameful is that some people chose to beleive a terrorist with no evidence that this event occurred over those who have a sworn duty to protect this great country.

His chain of command obviously threw him under the bus. I will say that he had a very good lawyer though.

They didn't get thrown under the bus per se, they opted for CM instead of Generals Mast and NJP. Rightly so. I do however question these charges ever being brought up.

True, the original intent was just to give them career-ending reprimands to satisfy the politicians, and the higher-ups in the chain of command.

The political animals are naturally sensitive to anything which smacks of abu graib. Somewhat understandably, the foreign relations fallout of that was monumental.

But the operators did the right thing (exercised their right to CM vice NJP) and the system worked.

Along the same lines, but a whole other ball of wax. The whistle blower on that should be in Levenworth for the damage they did. They gave AQI and the rest of the Islamic Fundamentalist world more propoganda material than they could've ever dreamed. We'll never know how many more lives they cost. Not defending the actions of the guilty by any means.
