Default Example of a well run airline operation

Pretty cool set of pictures. An example of an impressive, well run, resourceful, safety oriented operation from Russia... I'm impressed by how clean, organized, and professional everything looks. Wonder what their pay and QOL is. Compare this to US airlines, especially regionals, and it is sad what we have become.

Anyone can smile and look good for the camera.

The Russian accident/incident record is not so pleasant to look at.

I know it is a few years old, but: Russia the most dangerous place to fly in 2006

A buddy of mine, who if he's reading this needs to stop reading and start posting, but he flew on Kenmore Air a few weeks ago out of SEA. Said it was amazing. He'd never seen an airplane as clean as it was or an operation as well put together as theirs and he and I flew a pretty fancy $24M corporate jet together. So that's saying something, imho.

Good points, but the accident rate over there is not too impressive. Just keep that in mind. Also, their way of doing things doesn't seem terribly efficient. Can you imagine doing that kind of prep for every flight?

I'd love to have done that on the 7 leg days in the regionals and 5 leg days at mainline.

Yes, they did such a bang up job with their economy, they decided that branching out into airline management would be a good idea. Pay is 30,000 gizinkys a year and all the beets you can eat.

Catherine the Great said the same thing to Prince Grigori Potemkin.

You mean to tell me that the U.S carriers don't operate this way ?

You see the herd on an AN-124 and you'd wonder if there was any organization. They certainly don't check in with a doctor before every flight.
