Default Another BBQ Thread

This weekend was the annual conference for legal aid and public service lawyers. My husband and I (and our dog when he was still alive) have been going to these for the last 8 years. On the way over there Friday, we got too hungry and stopped at a BBQ restaurant in the little town of Cle Elum, where my husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich and I got the baby back ribs. The sauce was ok, but there was too much of it slathered on the top. On Saturday night, we went to yet another BBQ place a half block from the hotel. I ordered ribs again. The sauce was spicier, but at least it wasn't covering the ribs.

I've gained about 50 pounds , but all those ribs sure were good! Worth every last bite. Start on the NordicTrak tomorrow.

A personal note to SkyHigh: I would have called you to meet us at Cle Elum, but we didn't know ourselves that we would be there at that time. Sorry.

In pilot training (AF), we used to go to Kansas City for great BBQ. Can't remember the name of the place though.

...and thats just the tip of the iceburg. If its a hole in the wall, odds are, youre going to have good BBQ. OK Joes is in a gas station.

A lot of people like Gates BBQ as well there. I was always partial to Arthur Bryants. They have it at the airport, but it just not the same as going down to Brooklyn Ave.

Any place in the south were the owners name is on the front tends to be pretty good. I stay away from the generic names like Spring Creek, etc....

You haven't lived until you've taken 2 weeks out of your life, and gone on a road trip to the four BBQ cultural hearths ... Kansas City, Texas, Memphis, and the Carolina's.

Also, not BBQ, but Mann's Grille in Indianapolis is pretty dang good. Big portions, small price.

I overheard a slow drawl southern accented pilot with a stuck mic giving his recipe for BBQ to the other pilot. He actually talked about best moon cycles to BBQ. Anyway, his methods were way too far fetched for me. Nevertheless, my mouth was watering like Pavlov's dog!
