Default The next Great White Elephant of Aviation?

Taxing across LAX from the north side to the south side on Friday I noticed a QUANTAS A-380 sitting on the midfield ramp with all four engine cowls propped open.

It got me to thinking is the A-380 a non starter? Is it the next great white elephant of aviation? Is the A-380 destined to become the next generation of trendy roadside diners with names like "The Aero" or "Fly'n'chow" or maybe "Jumbo's Jet Double Decker Diner"?

I'll tell you what if I was the CEO of a company that just spent hundreds of millions of dollars on A-380's and had to park them all after having had to wait multiple years for production delays. And now had to park my entire fleet. I'd be ****ED!!

Does QANTAS do MX at LAX? When I was based there, it wasn't uncommon to see 5-6 of their 744's, with some in a hangar, and some with the cowls popped open.

Just wondering if they are doing A-3Ugly/Mega Skoda MX there as well.

If you're talking about the A380 engines, not every airline operates the RR Trent, like Queensland And Northwest Territories Air Service.

The largest operator of the fleet, Emirates, was never grounded with GE engines.
