Whatever happened to Crewpass?

You're kidding right? Nothing changes if you go the normal route.
As to paying for it, why would the airlines pay for it? It does nothing for the airlines. And as for ALPA paying for it? Well, would it be limited then to ALPA pilots? I will never support having my dues go to a program which directly benefits non-dues paying pilots.
The reality is that we as pilots are going to end up paying for this as the companies don't care one iota whether you go through security or bypass it with Crew Pass. The TSA doesn't care either.
I am willing to bet it just dies a death and there will be no Crew Pass because nobody is willing to pay for it.
I personally think the TSA should pay for it but that probably isn't going to happen.

I am totally on board with the last point, but congress probably won't let it happen. Maybe get rid of a screener at each airport or a couple of DC-based TSA managers would pay for CASS each year.

Whatever Happened to CrewPass....
Simple, TSA gave up on busting our balls and we returned to the status quo... ALPA and all the other unions stopped yelling and calling the press and politicians... and as long as it stay out of the media it won't change.

I just thought of something else. Maybe I'm crazy or the 5 am vans are getting to me this week...but I wonder if the Airlines will push for it after the new duty time rules take effect. I'm not 100% sure because I haven't read the rules myself yet, but don't they base duty start time when we leave the hotel in the new rules?? Getting us through security faster will benefit the airlines if that that is the case as time spent in security will be wasted duty time.
All in all guess its time to write the gov't reps again.

9 hours minimum van-van.
I would gladly fork over an extr5-10 bucks a month to walk right on through.
