Default Whatever happened to Crewpass?

I just realized that its already halfway through March and Crewpass still isn't being used except at the few test airports that have had it for a few years now. I thought Crewpass was supposed to go widespread just after the new year.. Its now well into the new year and still no Crewpass so has any one heard any reasons for the delay or when it may actually show up everywhere??

Lets see... something that benefits pilots.

My guess is that Crewpass got left at the clubhouse and that the ALPA and FAA people responsible for implementing it are somewhere around Hole 5.

More like the Govt refuses to pay for it, the airlines refuse to pay for it, and the pilots don't think we should be paying for it. Once they figure out who is going to pay for it, you will see it.

BTW, how much are YOU willing to pay for it?

Why should I pay for the ability to gain access to my site of employment?

The government is the one that created this mess of a security experience we have, they should be the ones that pay for a more realistic approach to crewmember security.... and the airlines and ALPA should be pushing much harder for it.

I agree completely with you, but don't expect the airlines to push for it. Like you said, it benefits pilots and adds no additional benefit to the airlines.

Default Alpa

Let ALPA pay for it. Since they think it is so important, and it is their big accomplishment, let ALPA national pay for it. They have been working on this for years instead of doing something that would actually benefit us like the overturning of the RLA.

ALPA paying for it is the same as us paying for it, as it would be funded by our dues. That is just as unacceptable as us paying directly out of our pocket.

They should go to all the airport checkpoints where they have 14 TSA people standing around for one line with one x-ray machine and only 5 people waiting in line to go through and fire two TSA employees (we all see this on a weekly basis). Take that money and use it for CrewPass. Now you can fire two more TSA people because instead of 5 people standing in line there will only be 3. In the end the TSA saves money.
