Default Any MS Word 2010 experts here?

Anyone know how to define custom output file names based on merge data when exporting a merge to files or to PDF? I need the exported files to have a unique and identifiable names instead of the sequential numbered name which seems to be the Word default. I want to use a field from the merge to insert into the file name as the file is created and saved.

Wow, I just re-read that and realized that's what I'm doing on a Sunday afternoon. Sad

I'll beat y'all to the super-geek comments, but if anyone knows of a way to do this I'd appreciate it.

I don't know how it works for you, but when I convert MS Word to an Adobe .pdf, the file name stays the same but the extension changes.

I have the Adobe tab on the MS Word toolbar.

Don't know if that helps your problem. With me, if you change the original file name, then when in modifies to .pdf, it brings the name with it.

Cheers,

Cheers,

On single Word->PDF conversions it's not a problem.

I'm doing a merge of about 75 records into Word with data from a comma delimited text file. I can print all 75 individual documents out to PDF files, however, the file naming is a default number sequence instead of something useful - like a Name field from the merge. The problem is when I look at 75 randomly named personalized/customized documents, I don't know which one goes where. Without a custom name, the utility of a merged print to PDF (or any file) is severely limited.

Thanks for your help!
