That's FANTASTIC!! I got mine before the chips were installed. Mine went through the wash a few years back too. Wonder if I could do the same??

I don't see why you would not be able to do so. The whole reason I had put it off for so long was the long wait and expensive cost associated with getting a "speedy" replacement done by one of those B.S. passport replacement companies. The method I used turned out great for me and it has also worked out for others at my airline. Good luck.

I had my damaged in the wash a few years back and I only had a few issues. Going into Canada once I got the riot act from a female CBSA person on its condition and threatened if I came in again with it they would deny me. Another time coming back into the US via Miami they took me off to the side as they suspected it was a forgery.

You can get a new passport in ~24 hours. I went through the Seattle agency. Called up, made an appointment and when I showed up they had a checkbox on one of the forms for damaged passport. After I paid the fee, I came back the next day to pick it up. I had to renew mine anyways but by saying it was damaged, they gave me a break and I had to pay less (didn't have to pay for the expedited renewal). woo hoo

No expedied fee? Now I feel like I got shook down. At least I got a new renewal date.
