Plenty, if you have a Russian or Nigerian cab driver. (No show limo)

Well, if the cabin and cockpit crew are BOTH staying at the same hotel, then the normal, polite thing to do is go together - like a crew. The impression you give if you leave them is, “Screw you. I can’t and won’t wait. You’re on your own.”, which certainly does NOT subscribe to the “we’re in this together” CREW mentality, and says everything about your leadership ability - and not in a good way.

In 27 years in the airline business, in the above situation, I’ve NEVER ditched a cabin crew heading to the same hotel because I couldn’t wait the extra 7-10 minutes.

I’ll also say this: if a captain ever suggested this, I’d politely tell him that I’m waiting, and I’d wave him goodby as he left to take the van to the hotel, alone.

THIS!!!

The only excuses for ditching the crew are staying at a different hotel, being on short rest or if you take your own transportation to the hotel.

I can understand if the van is for hire.

You know what they say about a$$es and opinions:rolleyes:

I’m the last one off the jet, through immigration (especially through immigration), into the hotel van, and to check into the hotel... well you can figure it out. F/As at carriers have different report times. That said, I’m on that van with the F/A’s to ensure the aircraft, tech log to mitigate potential delays.

My crew’s safety and security is paramount to me. That’s a part of leadership, courtesy, consideration, team concept and moreover responsibility.

Who knows, Floobs ....if and when you get your fourth stripe you can look back on your post and say to yourself “Was that me?!?”

Take the van that gets you to the plane by your report time. When getting to an overnight: if you’re not staying at the same hotel as the F/As then leave, if you are, then wait for them and don’t be a jerk and steal the hotel van.

Why is this so hard?

Because with some people "Its all about ME!"

Simple leadership shows that you never ask anyone to do something you wouldn’t do.

If you can honestly say you wouldn’t expect the FAs to wait for you then leave.

I would expect them to wait for me so of course I would wait for them.

Don’t make life complicated.
