"Ignoring" your captain, regardless of who it is, is never a good idea. Especially on a leg trip with multiple legs. I was professional and supportive and flew my ass off. Small talk was at a minimum.

Like many said, I'll let a guy know he's being a DB. However, there is a way to do that without being outright insulting or disrespectful. It is an art form, and one that has them flying the entire trip trying to figure out if you insulted them or not. They usually use so many brain cells, it short circuits the douche cells.

Lesson one: Know what "Bless your heart" really means...
