Yes, because EVERYONE in the US wants to become an airline pilot. Sad that most kids today and many adults can't do basic arithmetic without whipping out their Iphone, etc. or have a cash register telling them how much change to give. Back in the stone ages, one needed to have that skill. Why not teach children mathematical skills that will help them in everyday life such as balancing a checkbook, managing their finances, investing, etc.?

Sorry, but I still find it incredibly mind-boggling and pathetic that supposedly educated people in ALL walks of life can't spell or form a sentence without glaring errors.

Stone age is right. My online banking does a whole lot better job of balancing my accounts than a ledger and calculator. Plus I'm not ****ing off the people on line behind me at the grocery store!

I just really, really want to post an editorial comment. However, I will keep my mouth shut and accept that the coke popping, talking freight really has it all together.

Go right ahead....it's better than the wimpy read-between-the-line posts that some guys drop on here and then run off never to return to the discussion. Also, it's funny when you all think I'm not smart enough to "get it." Thanks, too, for the jab about my job. Yet, I'M the one who's been called a man and pilot hater. Gotta laugh at the irony! Thanks for that, Scambie..... You have a magical day!

We here are just trying not to get covered in foam, and squished. Maybe social discourse is not a strong suite.

If one were to compare the level of education of pilots and flight attendants, I wonder what the results would indicate?

There is a reason we have an armored door between us and the cabin.

Service jobs are not going to make for a strong and vibrant economy. To do that you have to make things. Making things requires math and science.

+1. Tell that to the current administration. (Oops).

Of course. It's just strikingly ironic that you bemoan the decline in your pet discipline, but excuse deficiencies in the other critical skills. It's hard to be a well-rounded person if you can't convey your intelligence, but it's also in poor taste to use a well-turned phrase to hide the fact that one is actually a moron.

Should we not praise those who have all the tools at their disposal, as opposed to the tool of the day?
