THE RIGHT STUFF: NF-104 - YouTube
The "NF-104" used in the film was actually a F104G, either tail # 243 or 269 from the 69th TFTS at Luke AFB. (1981ish timeframe) They were flown by 2 instructor pilots from Luke. I was instructing at Luke in the 104 at the time(not in the movie). Interior scenes were a generic simulator and the "spin" was a model. BTW - It WAS a very sweet airplane to fly!

The Great Outdoors, John Candy and Dan Aykroyd. Scene where they are fighting the bat inside the cabin. Specific lines: "Where'd he go? He's in the rafters, he's refuelin!"
