First visit trying to find my way around the block... Thurston, nice name ! I had a friend named James Thurston who ran a flt school years back and was an FAA designee. He was a good friend and a good mentor.

Does anyone know any thing about corporate aviation. I have been flying for JetBlue since Jan 2000. I have a year left to fly with them since I will turn 65 in Oct 2014.
Looking for a coporate job or something like it for a couple of years after I retire. Been flying commercially for 35 yrs, where did the time go.
Started out as a flight instructor, then a chief pilot for a company called Air Flite , then Evergreen Int'l flying DC-8, from there to Air America flying L1011's, one of the best aircraft ever built and then JetBlue in 2000...

Hello everyone. My name is Aston. I'm someone who has always been interested in aviation. Pretty much everything that I know about aviation (aside from some physics concepts and such that I partially-learned in school) has been researched and learned on my own time. Much of that thanks to the fine members of this and other aviation forums. I've basically "lurked" this forum and others for a long time mainly due to my interest in understanding aviation. I research things that I want to know or don't understand using google, and this is one of the forums that would continuously pop up in search results as people have posted threads asking questions similar to what I was wondering. It's very helpful. Now that I have some questions that I simply can't get answered by googling, I figured the best thing to do was officially join this forum and post them as threads. Hopefully I can get some clarity on things that I'm looking to understand. In either case, it's an honor to be part of a forum that holds so many respectable aviators. Thank you.

Hi all, I was a pipe fitter and heavy equipment operator in the oil fields before deciding my body wouldn't last until retirement performing heavy labor 6-7 days a week. Started flying "late" in life at 30 was a flight instructor, regional pilot and finally made it to the corporate world 12 years ago.
