I'm ex Air Force, KC-135 pilot, and like Thurston was prior enlisted... avionics maintenance, then college and UPT. I've worked both aviation and non-aviation related jobs since I retired from active duty, and am currently on furlough from my last job. I am very much enjoying staying home with the wife for now, but looking forward to the next paycheck opportunity. Not sure if I will accept another airline job or not, depends on the new hire quality of life. (I am definitely NOT going to commute to a crash pad at this stage of the game!) I have over 10,000 hours total time, 6,000 hours PIC in large jets flying around the world, and over 1500 hours of instructor time, but if I never see the left seat again I could live with that, as long as the quality of life is good.
