Default Worst Flying Movie Ever?

Executive Decision, Air Force 1, Iron Eagle II, Into The Sun, Interceptor, Airport 75 & 77, Broken Arrow*, Pearl Harbor*, Behind Enemy Lines*, Passenger 57, Snakes on a Plane, Soul Plane, Cliffhanger*, ConAir*.......and now this.

Flight Official Trailer [HD]: Denzel Washington, James Badge Dale and John Goodman - YouTube

We have a winner.

*Not movies about flying per se, but have memorably ridiculous "flying" scenes, historic discontinuities, or premises that violate physical and aerodynamic law.

Good catch...I forgot the movie, let alone the name of it. A movie that literally screams "Made for Saturdays on TBS."

But I still think "Flight" takes the cake.

Agreed - most of those movies suck big time.

Exception is Behind Enemy Lines...I actually really liked that movie - looks good in HD. The F-18 SAM evasion scene, while totally implausible (I think - I flew Herks), is pretty cool to watch along with the ejection sequence (yes, I know they don't have square, steerable chutes).
It's not an academy award winner, but is well-above the other turds you mentioned.

Default Siskell & Ebert

The SAM scene is why I don't like it. Our hero gets shot at by an SA-9. I can't go into details on a public forum, but I can assure you, the SAM in this movie had more burn-time than a Saturn V going to the moon...

Our hero keeps maneuvering for head-on passes against the missile, in the great tradition of car/train/horse/OJ Simpson chases in movies since the silent era. But the clincher for me is that:

1. It bounces off his Hornet.....and other than getting a fender-bender/road rash, both of them keep going. Hollywood thinks airplanes are like cars: get in a crash, and it is still recognizable, just bent. Think crash scene in Broken Arrow, where a composite airplane shears off the top of a mountain instead of disintegrating.

Flying machines---whether they are airplanes or SAMs---have to be lightweight and fragile in order to do their job.

2. He doesn't shoot!! For crying out loud, if you are going to do BFM with a missile, at least try to GUN the thing!! Instead, he waits for the inevitable. And if Top Gun taught us anything, it is that backseaters always die in movies.

Agreed, the visuals are great, but if this were realistic? Five seconds, not five minutes.

HaHa! I appreciate all those details, but from the standpoint of a fun-to-watch movie, I still thought it was good.

Again, I didn't fly pointy airplanes, so my concept of evading SAMS consisted of listening to beeps and chirps in my headset, followed by clinching my butt cheeks together.

But so far, you've got a good list of terrible movies going. Flight looks like an interesting storyline with ridiculous flying scenes. Since I am an expert on the Maddog (sans winglets), I'll report back with a review.

I got all excited about Red Tails when I saw the preview and then, just recently, I sat down to watch the movie in it's entirety. Biggest waste of 15 minutes ever (that's all I could stand to watch).

2012. An overall horrible movie, with some laughable flying scenes.
