Question Training Cost Difference

I do not understand why there is so much difference in cost for fixed-wing and rotary-wing training The rotary-wing training costs 1.5 - 2 times the amount of fixed-wing training.

People who know, fire away. I am just an aspiring aviator and would love to hear from different perspective.

Thank you

I don't think there are going to be many different perspectives on this...

Helicopters are more expensive to buy and operate => helicopter flight time costs more. I'm sure they cost more to insure as well.

While the cheapest commonly available helo (R-22) is price-comparable to a new ASEL ($300K-ish), there is still a very large pool of old ASEL which can bought for $20K-$50K.

When all the old airplanes wear out and the only option is a new $300K C-172, FW flight training costs will go up too.
