Michael Richards Loses it!

I know he meant African but I heard him say Afro several times in different interviews. I don't know what he is thinking. Oh, right, he was not thinking.

The white overseers charged with whipping slaves were known as "crackermen," hence "cracker."
I've seen the prefix "Afro-" used like this before, in the same fashion as "Euro-" (eg. "Eurofighter, Eurotunnel"). For example, There's a longstanding black newspaper in DC called the Washington "Afro-American." I believe that the term was more common in the early-to-mid 20th century, before becoming associated more with hairstyles in the '60's...

I dont think Richards handled it right, he went overboard (although if you notice he switches from the slur n*gg*r to the acceptable rap term nigga about halfway through his rant, not sure if that was on purpose or not, eitherway it doesn't mean he didn't go overboard)
I also dont think that people should heckle comediens, if you dont like them just dont laugh, its as simple of that. If you heckle a comedien, you are asking for whatever that comedien says to you.
As for suing, what are those guys going to sue him over??? Had they not done anything to provoke the situation, and had they not continuely responded to him, they might have a case. But they sure as hell dont have one now, they even went as far as to threaten Richards.
In the end both sides were in the wrong. Richards should have handled it differently, and those men should have just left.

They act like salvery ended yesterday. Please!!! They need to get over the whole thing. Frist off, none of this would have happened in the first place if those black guys weren't messing with him. This entire inccident goes back to the stupidity of the black guys that started it. THEY started it. Then, we have the "he's a nigger!" thing. Alright, alright, he went to far on this. But they all call each other that like it's nothing When we say something, though... that's a no-no? Now the have the black guy yelling 'cracker' at Richards. So they can call us crackers or whatever the hell they want, but if we call them something... the whole world knows about it. That makes a whole lot of sense. Now they're going to sue Richards? FOR WHAT???!! He never used a name, what would he sue for?? Well, in that case, Richards oughta sue that black guy that call him a cracker. It's the same difference.
I'll get off my soapbox now....

At first I started to chop up the above paragraph...but I'm not going to waste my time. As an African-American, a descendant of slaves, I find your statement insensitive & moronic.
I guess it's like the two young Native American boys walking down the beach after a swim; and as they were walking up the beach having a friendly argument each trying to prove his point; one turns to the other and says, "What else could go wrong?" By the way, I forgot to mention that when he turned and said that, there in the distance on the horizon was the silhouette of three ships!!!!
Get over it.......?
Personally, it doesn't surprise me what Richards said. We all have either thought or said something racist at one time or another. And as far as brothers referring to each other using the "N" word, it doesn't carry the sting or the degradation as it would if said by someone who lacks melanoma in their skin.
