We are now poised to shoot past 400 parts per million (350 is the human habitat's red line) with no sign of a meaningful course correction in sight. This is going to suck real bad and in your lifetime.

For the entire period of human civilization, roughly 8,000 years, the carbon dioxide level was relatively stable near that upper bound. But the burning of fossil fuels has caused a 41 percent increase in the heat-trapping gas since the Industrial Revolution, a mere geological instant, and scientists say the climate is beginning to react, though they expect far larger changes in the future...

And yet there has been no warming.

You "survived" Y2K because the US spent about $100 billion (out of the $600 billion
the world spent) fixing the issue before it became a problem. Our Pentagon even
helped ensure the safety of the Russian nuclear arsenal.

Science.

Perhaps. It is also possible that not much would have happened if not much was done. Since it was a one time deal there is no way to prove it either way. You are entitled to your opinion.

As I recall, almost nothing happened. I don't believe that a project run by our government would be that thorough and effective.

I think it is much more likely that the programmers and companies that were talking up the crisis were the same ones that'd be getting paid to prevent it. A mix of old fashioned millenarianism and some slick rent seeking.

Global warming is indeed happening. No I didn't vote for Gore. With that said, I am open to reality and the world around me. Record droughts, forest fires, melting ice bergs, high temps early and late in the season (95 degrees in November in Texas ?), etc, mean a lot of us need to catch a clue and realize that it is happening.

The anti-GW crowd will continue for a long time....there is still a "Flat Earth Society", and LOTS of people that think the Moon landing was fake.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think!

Follow the money trail to the big money people and corporations behind the anti-GW "science"...they mistakenly believe that fighting GW will benefit them or their company. It may, but only in the short term.

Earth is earth...it is not Rep or Dem, Lib or Conservative. You change the inputs into the Earth's climate, and it adjusts itself to keep Earth in balance, regardless of who believes or doesn't believe in GW, or science, or a particular political party. Earth does not care what you think.

It is not a question of the earth getting warmer (it hasn't since '98) or colder. It is a question of are we causing it and what can we do about it (the US CO2 emissions are at a 20 year low BTW). Your side has no models that have backed up your hypothesis, that means the science isn't settled.

But if you think GE and the rest of Obama's buddies are raking in the dough from crony environmentalism you have your head so far up rear end you'll never know when we hit 400 PPM and the atmosphere catches on fire.

Climate Change: Key Indicators

NASA posted data, data provided by NOAA. CO2 levels continue to rise.

This is GLOBAL warming. Joe American's electric Yaris is not going to affect thousands of exhaust spewing buses in Caracas
