Default Another Passenger Tried To Open Door

Passenger arrested for attempting to remove emergency exit in flight - U.S. News

I always carry duct tape in my purse. Never know when a seatmate might need to get restrained.

"Passengers were able to restrain Herrera before he could fully remove the door......"
Should have read: Passengers laughed at the idiot while he made futile efforts to overcome the 1000+ pounds of pressure on the door created by the normal aircraft pressurization system.

It will be interesting to find out what really happened and what threatening comments/behavior took place, if any at all. People tend to overreact at times, everyone wants to be a hero. I can't say that I'd be all that surprised if it turns out the female passenger was crying "wolf". Time will tell .....
IMHO

And other passengers claim they heard a "hissing" sound and thought they were going to crash.

Hysteria at it's finest. I say let the crazy SOB pull on the door to his hearts delight. Free inflight entertainment.

When the news was talking about it they quoted a mechanic saying there would be no way he could have opened the door (obviously he was meaning because of the tremendous amount of pressure you would have to overcome) but the news lady said, "then what happens when a real emergency happens and you need to open the emergency exit ang get out?" We need a face palm smiley.
