I'm a fan but just started watching, still only on Season 1. How come the networks didn't pick it up? I mean I love my netflix but seems strange. Is this gonna start being the norm? I love not seeing any commercials and breeze right through a show.

Netflix put the deal together internal (funding and all) without any waves based on their data set of how people watch and what they watch they knew they would have a hit...Plus, the BBC original is on Netflix (its really good as well...)...
There is talk that Netflix will do another season of firefly and is doing another 6 episode season of The Killing...
If you have Hulu Plus check out 'Prisoner of War' Israeli show that is the basis for Homeland (same creative / writing team)...Its much better than Homeland...Time to run and grab beer before True Detective starts...

"You may have all the money, Raymond, but I have all the men with guns."
This quote from House of Cards sums up why this is a rare form of story telling that points out the gun in the room. Movies like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings depict evil in the most overt manner as people shrouded in darkness and vile villainy with their twisted motives in clear view. Rarely are the smiling suits in a democratic regime examined as servants of an inherently violent system.
What this line means is that democracy is just a concept and that all that matters is that people have guns. In democracy you cannot disagree with the war on drugs, taxation, nationalized health care, or war because if you do people with guns come and imprison you. If you resist imprisonment the people with the guns have the warrant to kill you.
This show is very thought provoking and is a welcomed change to the existing media that normally takes a shallow approach to pointing out the bad guy.
