Only 1 American out of a crew of 10. Not sure it was an "american" victory?

‘Be careful,’ ” Spithill said, “ ‘because you can be a rooster one day and a feather duster the next.’ ”

At least it was a victory of American money over Emirates money (no bucks, no buccaneers).
As to the crew, our Kiwis were better than their Kiwis.

Info is now coming out about what changes were made to the Oracle boat, to get it to foil upwind, and pass the KIWI's on just about every leg 3, if they were behind, after their lay day.

If you recall, they were getting crushed going upwind early on, allowing the KIWI's to get up 8-1, but all of a sudden, the Oracle boat got faster upwind. Today I'm reading reports that Oracle had some help from Boeing, and installed a Stability Augmentation System, to help trim their daggerboard/foils, to get it to foil smoothly, while going upwind. The KIWI's did protest the system early on, but it was allowed.

Oh, and Jimmy Spitthill is an Aussie, not a Kiwi, so our Aussie is faster than their Kiwi! Too bad they did away with the Nationality Rule.

Truly an amazing come from behind victory. It does make you wonder what they did that was different in the first 8 races.

Bring back the IACC boats and the nationality rule along with the rules on boat design and manufature in the country of orgin. I get the feel that Larry Ellison is a bit of a whacko.

A boat owner once described the sport as "standing under a cold shower tearing up thousand-dollar bills".

I saw a great quote describing sailboat racing many years ago,

Sailboat Racing is the fine art of getting wet and becoming ill, while slowly going nowhere at great expense!

I still love to race, but man, it's getting expesive!

Still cheaper than a Divorce though, so I'm told!
