The best aircraft, crews, overall customer service for me has been ExpressJet. I've flown them since the early 90s. I go out of my way to book their flights...

What happened on Air India? Was it just really dirty? I've never flown them so I don't have any idea.

Dirty, no discipline, no customer service, etc...Intoxicated pilots is the norm - most are their because they bribed someone in the government and / or the airline for their job...

If you value your life and that of your loved ones stay away from Air India.

The LCCs in India are pretty good. The crews are expats and professional pilots. Air India = pilots that can't get hired anywhere else...

Dear God, that doesn't sound too good! Things like this never cease to amaze me! Not to sound innocent and naive, but how the hell does crap like this go on?. Makes you really appreciate this country (even with all our wackiness!!) HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Worst - World, on the way to Korea for a short tour...

Best - LAB, oddly enough, only because they had good airline food and everyone claps when they land safely. Always cracks me up.

That's terrible! I'd make me nervous getting on a lot of airlines in foreign countries, especially Africa or South America. I'll stay away from Air India for sure now (although I don't plan on going to India anytime soon anyway, lol)

World Air Routes just made a dvd featuring SpiceJet. They seem to be the airline you'd want to fly on if you were in India - brand new all-737NG fleet, and they pilots seem professional and to really enjoy their job. I guess they're the Southwest of India.

I haven't had any airline experiences that compete with those posted here, but early on I got to experience some "trashy" planes in AK...

One of my early jobs was flying a C207 for a mining camp, due to EPA regs we had to fly the trash out of the camp, so by the end of the season the plane was infested with mice. The helicopter mechanic trapped a bunch of them, we set up a maze and had races one night (taking bets, of course). Good times in the bush!

For smell, nothing competed with hauling fish. Once an airplane had been a fish hauler, it seemed like the smell never went away. Hauling fuel (JetA or diesel) was more pleasant but also seemed to soak into the pores after a while.

BTW, I like your avatar, CRJ!

Default Air India

I've heard stories about passengers on Air-India flights who are un-accustomed to modern bathroom facilities and what ground crews found tucked away in seat pockets and under seats after they de-planed.

I'll swim across before I ever set foot in one of their A/C.

Yeap...Thats true...Just wait till the doors close. People start to break out the ethnic food and such right there in the plane. Kids running around, families screaming to each other - and this is first class.

In coach its a third world street festival complete with monekys, snake charmers, and cows running free...

After a 2-3 hours wait the pilots will show up and strut around like they are gods gift to women. Even seen an overweight Indian with a bald head, clothes that are 20+ years old and no longer fit? Now imagine him drunk and with chicken vindaloo stains on his uniform - thats the FO. You can imagine what the CA is like. Yes, thats him. No, not the internet start-up CEO in the corner taking a poop. He's the one being pushed into the cockpit in a wheelchair because he's passed out drunk.

BTW - they are not un-accustomed. They are plain lazy.
