They are cool and a great addition to any collection.
I haven't looked lately, but the pricing point on the guns themselves seem to trend higher than their -47 forefathers.
And naturally, ammo sourcing is more pricey and may become harder too. If it hasn't already. Primarily for it's "AP" aspects, etc.
Although the ammo seems to still be cheaper than 5.56 ammo.

AK-74's aren't really any more expensive than an AK-47 these days. Just depends on what you want to get out of it.

7N1 for my PSL/Mosin PU is pricey enough so I just stick to the surplus light ball for "good enough" MOA.
Plus I can hand load some NORMA brass but that even that can get pricey.
Like I said, haven't priced them in a while. As my -47's were all acquired in the 80's.
