Anchor babies is a bad example and fixing it would not require changing the Constitution. It could just take another challenge to SCOTUS to have it reversed as it was not interpreted the current way for around 100 yrs. and was changed by SCOTUS.

You will be seeing this in a town near you soon. Then we can examine our real feelings.

If you look at the Immigration and Nationality Act the conference of U.S. Citizenship to a foreign born child of U.S. Parents, sometimes requires MANDATORY presence/residency on U.S. Soil (sometimes on or before a child's 21th birthday). These residency requirements date back decades and have been changed NUMEROUS TIMES. If a foreign born child fails to meet the corresponding and required residency requirements (usually dictated by their decade of birth) they never derive U.S. Citizenship and remain a Citizen or National of the foreign place of birth or in the case of dual citizen parents become a citizen of the foreign parent. These requirement were enacted WAY after 1776 nor did the change of the conditions of derived citizenship EVER require a change of the U.S. Constitution or require a Constitutional Amendment.

All Congress has to do is pass or create a new amendment to the current U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act which would concurrently require the passage the corresponding Constitutional amendment. I believe that the majority of the residents in the U.S. would support such a change. The times and immigrant attitudes of Ellis Island are long gone.

Example/Solution;

The "Protection of the Homeland Immigration Act of 2015" that would requires that; 1) in order to confer U.S, Citizenship, via the parents to a newborn on U.S. Soil, (and in some cases a U.S. Registered Aircraft or U.S. Flagged Vessel), shall mandate that one or both parents of the newborn be U.S. born citizens at the time of the birth, (and the parents have never renounced their citizenship). This is commonly refereed to "Derived Citizenship."

Problem solved

PS. I researched these laws, (while in College) as most of my relatives are 1st generation immigrants and many have derived U.S. Citizenship from their Foreign Born U.S. Citizen Parents, and most served both in the Military and Government Service. I now try teach our newer generations of our history. To be proud of their U.S. Citizenship as most of the family has also "Written a Blank Check Payable to the U.S," (if you don't understand that phrase, you probably never raised your right hand and took the Oath of Office, which never expires).

People there feel the need for a weapon, and by their rules that is the most effective and available weapon.

They are voting with their wallet because they feel their leaders have failed to protect them. Their vote is proof of ther lack of confidence in their leaders.
