Auto insurance help.
#1
Hi I just got into a accident about 3 days ago. Some body did a hit and run, so I don't know who did it. I took it to an bodyshop to fix my car. I'm paying out of my pocket. I didn't know that I had full coverage (insurance pays for it). Is there any way that I can get my money back if I show my insurance (progressive) my bill from the body shop. They said they will give me a claim bill if I need one. Please help.

Sorry but I doubt it. If you have comprehensive policy coverage but don't use the company repair firm you're not going to be covered beyond appraised damages; and if you didn't have them appraise it before starting then uh oh. I had a beautiful Mazda 626 years ago and I had a guy broadside it with nothing more than a promise. I was young and gullible and let the guy give a false phone number and song and dance- never saw him again or any money. Within a few months the car was so ugly it was totally trashed. I learned my lesson about song and dance accident routines- you MUST get people to agree to the police report and use the company repair shops no matter how minor the accident, or you will not see the money. That said, another guy rear ended me and I went for his song and dance story and believe it or not he sent the money in the mail a few months later. I thought I had won the lottery.
