Why is it that every other pilot forum has ads and/or membership fees while this one has none? I figured if any forum should have some sort of revenue stream it should be this one. It's by far the most professional forum.

Default Thanks for the kind words

Our goal with the forum was to build an online community of pilots - not a revenue stream.

While we are interested in self-enrichment - profiting from the opinions, expertise, and debate of the thousands of pilots who contribute to this community isn't something we feel comfortable with. We leave a considerable amount of money "on the table" by not accepting ads here (we get several inquires each day asking for ad space) but helping other pilots doesn't have to involve compensation.

Our mantra when we started Airline Pilot Central was "pilots helping pilots" and as long as we can find creative ways to fund the project APC will remain free to all.

http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/ you'll see them on the right. But in contrast a VERY small amount compared to most. I know places use them to offset cost but it does cheapen the place. Like advertisements on pro stadiums.

You were invited? I wasn't. I had to use google and this place popped up. Bob has blown his lid though. This is one of the most "civil" forums I've come across yet it still has the same nonstop negative nancies out there. Oddly enough most are regional pilots. I guess hardships in life bleed out everywhere. On flightinfo cargobob's statements would be normal. Here it's irritating, and on pprune I doubt I'd ever read it in the first place.
