Right. And the HAL flights cost half as much because it's so much cheaper to operate in Hawaii and no one takes spring break there.
You guys operate airplanes with this logic?
Last time: Good on SWA for choosing to price according to market demand. Keep up the good work.

I made no comment other than to explain the cost of the pairings you’ve picked. I can’t help that they continue to be poor examples.

Btw, I would also suspect that TUL to LBB is a two legger through DAL or HOU, and TUL is a high demand run at all times from those hubs for various reasons.

Let's get back to the peacocking!

Same routes. Mid April:
SWA: $420
HAL: $190
No SXSW, no spring break.
Again, no one's upset about a competitor who charges a fair price. Mesa's sin was charging below cost to put our friends out of business.

I’ve always thought these arguements were a bit misleading. The glaring difference between all of these route comparisons is that the ONLY way to Lihue or Hilo is on Hawaiian. People in Lubbock or Tulsa don’t like the cost of a SWA ticket, then guess what - they drive. People of Hawaii don’t have that option. This is the crux of Opakapaka’s ‘holding the locals hostage’ argument.

Competition will be good for the people of Hawaii. Sure southwest’s entrance to the market is going to hurt Hawaiian’s earnings, but both will be able to co-exist.

I’m curious to see how SW handles the 100s of little idiosyncrasies that are a part of operating II - especially with a revolving crew set..

If it gets bad, I can always outsource that Interisland flying, my profits will be fine!
