Looking for a job...period
Alright ladies and gents, here's the skinny....
I'm a university flight program graduate with my commercial multi, instrument. Sitting on 325 total and about 45 multi. I have my master's degree in aviation and some military maintenance experience. I'm looking to get a job with a regional, but am having hard luck as of right now. Anybody have any insight into regionals and how to get an interview or where I can get a job doing some flying to build more time. I really do not want to flight instruct and feel that if I were to even try that route my heart would not be in it. That being said, it wouldn't be fair to myself or the student shelling out thousands of dollars. Either post on here or PM me if you have any info. Many thanks.

You will definitely need some more time before you can start applying. Sorry to bust your bubble, but instructing is an awesome way to build knowledge and time. If you can't put your heart into instructing, what makes you think you can put your heart into other flying jobs. That makes you sound as if your not a people person, and the airlines don't want people like that. All those degrees are not going to help you get a job any sooner I'm sorry to say. You should not be flying passengers yet. You need to build experience and time. And pay no attention to the previous post, Mesaba is a good company.

I'd concur with Scenic. If you had 500 hours, I'd say get a VFR 135 job in the canyon, that's what I did.
Anyhow, even with your times, you could probably eventually get on at a regional. You could do an RJ course and just buy your way in. Sadly, it's all the rage these days.
I also believe in the CFI as a way to build time, experience, seasoning, and develop your aviation skills. I can't tell you how many times I've heard guys say "I'd suck at it, don't want to do it". Then, they are forced into it and say what a great learning experience it is. To each his own, though, I agree that the last thing a guy should do is become a CFI if he's dead set against it.

I forgot another option of just paying out the arse. You could get 175hrs of nothing but multi for the hell of it. Ride-share is really a good way to cut costs if you do have to go out and "buy" time.
