Default First Flying Job help

Hey,

I am now the proud holder of a CPL IR, and will be getting my ME this fall while in school (I go to Rutgers). I want to try and avoid getting my CFI right away, I hate teaching and I have no more $$ to be renting a plane for over 100$ an hour w gas. I was wondering what advice you guys have for finding a first job, who wants someone with 270 hrs TT, and a CPL IR ME. I am hoping to get a spot as a backup pilot at the local sky dive place. I live in NJ and will be at Rutgers NB this fall if anyone knows someone in NJ, I would gladly sit right seat for free if someone wants the company. Hope this isnt a repost and thanks for all your help.

Thanks,
Rick

then go to school. then next summer go tow banners... or try and get on with one of the many aerial survey companies... or traffic watch.....but you are kidding yourself if you think flying for free ( you cant log it anyways if the fo isnt required ) .... is doing anyone any good. Or get a pipeline patrol job... with the industry the way it is... those are your choices.

Try finding a flight school that is looking for cfi's and ask them if they will give you a discount on the rental rate if you work for them after. I've heard of some people doing this and it can't hurt to try.

Look... this time last year I was in your exact shoes... and I had the opportunity to either fly right seat in a King Air for free or get paid to fly weather modification... I have just under 1200 hours and haven't paid for or flown for free as of yet. You can do it... it just takes time.... you have a lot of time ahead of you and there is no real need to rush into the industry and burn yourself out.
Take a deep breath and realize that if you work for free today that you wages over your career will be affected. You have the certificate so get paid for your hard work.

I actually fly out of sussex, I am now friends with Mark who is one of their pilots, because of flying out of sussex, even flown with him. Maybe ill get a job there after Rutgers, but he def has the weekend hours this year so thats a no go. Where is Crosskeys, I'll be living in New Brunswick starting sept 1st due to rutgers
