I understand everyone's point of view. I would sure like to hear why the original poster feels this job is not for him and he is so desperate to quit. To me, it seems that he just wants to sit back and fly the airplane and not have to teach anything. If that is the case, I'm afraid he is in for a rude awakening. It seems more than he is just "burnt out" as one poster said. Sure, we all get burnt out, but that doesn't mean that a job "is not for me." Let me hear from some folks that have actually flown for a regional or a corporate flight department as a captain and got paired up with a 300 hour pilot with 50 hours multi. Now it's you, the low time FO, low IFR and ice, deviations, and low fuel. Oh, how much better it would be to sit in a 172 and do S-turns!

At where I work, benefit better than other flight instructing gigs around here, but pay is about half of other places. I've never flown in the crew environemnt on the line, but I've been through some crew environment training. It is not instructing I don't like. It's the type of instructing I don't like. If I wasn't under pressure by the management to put students through, and at the same time not given enough time for most students to cover what they need to know to pass the practical, I can see myself enjoying this. For example, if I go up with my buddies, show them ways to improve their flying, and get a case of yuengling for that, I think I could enjoy instructing. Going back to the pressure from the management, a lot of students at where I work are just not motivated enough or don't know how to set their priorties right. Because of that, they don't make as much progress as they should; and thus the management get on my ass for it.

Forgot to mention, another thing about my place is it's part 142. I got more sim time (which is worthless), than airplane time within last 1 1/2 years

So back to the original question! Where are the non-instructing jobs in east-central or southeast Florida? How about anything in MCO, MLB, VRB, FPR, SUA, F45, or PBI? I'll crack 1000 hrs with 250 multi this week.
Night flying? Check flying? Anything where I can fly 30 hrs a week? Of course, I'd love a corporate or 135 right seat gig too.
Things are slowing down drastically at my school because career loans are hard to come by. I need a plan B. Not sure if I can afford to go to a regional right now, even if they were hiring...

Yes, it is VERY VERY different. In the CFI world you are getting paid specifically to instruct, and if there is an accident with your student, at worst only you two are injured or die....

in a regional or corporate jet, you are moving and things are happening five times faster, in a much less forgiving airplane. You are not getting paid any extra to teach, and if there is an accident/incident many people will be injured or killed, and your family will be settling with their estates for years to come...
