I'm a corporate pilot on a long-term contract in Lagos, and it's really not that bad. My last rotation home I was on a flight with a Dana Air captain who was laid off after 20+ years at Midwest Airlines. He said he was on a 20/10 rotation making $10k/month. He said that a 40/20 schedule is also available. He had tons of MD-80 time obviously and that's what I've heard Dana is looking for. Many of the FOs are low-time locals, but the captain I spoke to said they're pretty good considering their experience.
Flying here certainly takes some adjustment, especially with the ATC procedures, but it's not a bad way to bridge the gap while waiting for the job market to improve. I've been working at this job since March and haven't felt unsafe yet.
