Dana Air
I saw an ad in the Seattle Times for MD83 pilots at a start up. The company has bought three ex-Alaska Airlines planes and needs crews. They also are looking for Learjet pilots. They are located in Lagos Nigeria.

Might want to ask the expats who are flying over there what it's like to live and work in Nigeria .
Will get the ball rolling by posting a Nigeria thread to help those of you who are interested and will be up to date .

Hi!
Lagos is terrible.
It seems that Dana Air is trying to be respectable. Their training is in MIA.
I would go, as I need the job. I also saw advertisements for a type-rated Chief Pilot? Training Capt? something like that, and type-rated captains.
It is VERY challenging flying in Nigeria, and around Africa, in general. Not many ILSs, lots of full procedure IFR, to include reporting points, etc. Carry lots of fuel for holding, and be prepared for anything, including controllers that are VERY difficult to understand, and non-Jepps fixes given by ATC-I was told to ask them for Jepps fixes and they will then give you the Jepps ones.

Stay Away
Africa is truly the embodiment of hell on Earth!!
If they paid you in gold bullion, it will still be real dangerous.
Africa makes bad American neighborhoods, look like kindergarten.
I don't think I would ever go back there, for any reason
OR, on the other hand, if you want weird evil sick horrible close brushes with a quick and painful death,
Go to Lagos, wait until it gets dark, walk alone down an off beat side street.
It amazes me, to this day, that there exists a place on earth, where a human life is only worth $10.

No it's worth a lot more than that. Especially if it only comes with your head. I read whites have the highest value. Nice way to end life walking down the street after you got the job at Dana air flying old md80s only to have your head chopped off by some guy on his first initiation... PS. 500PIC for First Officers????????????????????????????????????? And only 1500 Total time? How are you going to have 500PIC on the MD80 and only have 1500TT? Unless you got hired as a student pilot with that MD80 operator in lagos down the street... Some of these foreign companies amaze me.
