Looks like a fun job for the right person, just need to be careful of the wx up there and don't be afraid to say no. I wonder what they pay.

The pay is probably not that bad. Most 135 operations have decent pay for the majority of your employment. But it is a fun job for the right person. You will end up learning a lot and having great experiences for life.

Default The best job ever.

I worked there for 3 years. By far the best job I have ever and will ever have. I thought I knew how to fly but they taught me how to truely fly. Washout rate is usually 50%. It is not for everyone. I still consider them a second family. Like the boss will tell you, "If you can fly Kodiak island you can fly anywhere in the world." I have been all over the world and I will agree with that statement. Good luck and if your hired with Island Air, It will be an experience you will never forget. The pay was also very good when I was there.

It was over a decade ago so I'm sure it has changed. 21.50 to start and 2 dollar raise every 3 months to top out at 35 an hour. Close to 100 hr months. Hope this helps.

What are the main causes of the 50% washout? Weather, island life, dangerous flying?
