The number of unfilled MD11 FO spots in our new ANC domicile might be quite large. More about this by Tuesday after the bid closes. If I had any heavy time and/or FMS experience, and was looking for a PAID move to ANC (with a $1500/month additional stippend), I'd make sure my resume was up to date at UPS...
I have NO IDEA (see all my previous posts about this) how we will be staffing our future growth in the MD11. We are VERY short right now, and if the TA gets voted down, it'll be even tighter.

I cannot wait to see how junior ANC goes, fr84captain. The captains won't go as junior as the FO side, as the pay will suck a bunch of guys up. Especially so if the T/A passes.
New hires have been going to FedEx for some time, so I am sure it will all work out. Still, Louisville is beginning to look like a very cool city all of a sudden!

fr8captain,
I do have both FMS and heavy time (granted not alot) but how fortunate you ate to go to ANC as an MD 11 FO. I flew sidesaddle up there in C-130s for 4 years and loved every minute of it. My family would be so happy to move back...
I'll take a look at UPS. I'm a low time pilot though, only 1600hrs.
Good luck to you.

I would love to go to ANC, but I have kids in High School, and can't move for a few years. I wouldn't go as an FO either, I'd probably be the #4 or 5 Captain.
1600 hours total time or PIC?
Right now a job at UPS or FedEx is considered golden, so your should check it out if you'd like to flly long haul international.

fr8captain,
I wish it was 1600 PIC. No it's TT with 1000 PIC. I spent far too much time (7000hrs) in USAF flying sideways flying primarily long haul intl. I'm holding a line F/O position in Europe now on the 73, having a great time and it's fabulous flying but I long to go home to USA and ANC is my top choice.
I can understand your position about not being able to move.
Good luck to you and thanks for your advice.

Well the bid closed, and the most junior FO in ANC was hired in sixteen days ago. Five FO spots went unfilled...could be the first time we hire directly into the MD11 right seat.
